Joel Mcrae

Joel McRae, Sr. 72, of Hopewell, died Monday, March 17, 2008. at McGuire Veterans Hospital. Mr. McRae was born in Laurinburg, NC. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, a retired millwright with Millwright Local #1472 and a member of the VFW Post 637 in Hopewell. He was preceded in death by his parents Malcolm and Beulah McRae, his wife, Mildred McRae., a daughter, Cynthia M. Chavis and a brother, Malcolm McRae. He is survived by a son, Joel McRae, Jr., six grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, 3 step-sons, 1 step-daughter and a sister, Joyce M. Gregory of Durham, NC.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19, 2008, from 7 â?? 8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008, in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Pfost , pastor of Oaklawn Baptist Church, Chesterfield, officiating.
