Johanna Buyalos Ortiz

Johanna Buyalos Ortiz, 88, of Richmond passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016.
She was born April 22, 1928, in Petersburg, VA. She was married to Dr. Eduardo Ortiz in 1950 for 53 years until his death. She earned her Nursing Degree in 1949. For 25 years she was the Office Manager at her husband’s dental practice in Hopewell. Her passions included being a loving wife, mother to her five children, working in the yard and cultivating her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Eduardo Ortiz, her parents, George and Emily Buyalos, and her brother, John Buyalos. She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: Dr. Andy and Nancy Ortiz of Charlottesville, Joanne Ortiz and Bill Saunders of Dinwiddie, Janeen and George Carabetta of Westbrook, CT, Robert and Deborah Ortiz of Lake Forest, IL, and Carmina and Marty Drummond of Richmond, as well as nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the J.T. Morriss Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road, Richmond, VA. Burial will be private.
