John Aldwin Archer, Jr., 72, of Chesterfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Archer, Sr.; and daughter, Katherine “Kitten” Archer. John is survived by his loving wife, Kirkie Archer; his mother, Flora Estelle Archer; sister, Cathy A. Fischer and her husband, Wade; two nephews, Randy and Matthew Fischer; special friends, Kay and Frank Smith, and David Call and family. John was born in Petersburg, VA. In 1962 he began his career at the DuPont Spruance Plant in Richmond where he worked in manufacturing and engineering in the Nylon and Nomex facilities. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. John was also an accomplished craftsman in woodworking and anything mechanical, especially automobiles. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving and generous person who could always tell a great story. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Farmville, VA.
