John Gresham Boswell

On February 25, 2023, John Gresham Boswell, from Dinwiddie County, departed from this earth; he was welcomed to his eternal home with God. At 92 years old, he leaves behind a legacy in the hearts and lives of family and friends. He was a faithful husband and father, an avid gardener, conscientious homeowner (he loved fixing things) and a loyal friend. He has touched the lives of those around him and will be missed by many.

John has now joined his family that has gone before him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edna Boswell; brothers, Edward, Horace, and Boyd Boswell; and his sisters, Elizabeth Nelson and his baby sister. He leaves behind the family that he built - his wife of 61 years, Joyce Hinson Boswell; sons, Marvin Boswell (Tania), Brian Boswell (Kim), and Alan Boswell (Laura); granddaughters, Rebecca Coffman (Joel), Amanda Clapcich (Michael), Brianna Clapcich (Stefan), Hunter Boswell, and Brette Ladd; grandsons, David Boswell, Sean Boswell, and Holden Boswell; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Daniel, and Susanna; and sister, Grace Dunford (Ronnie) and her family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, at J.T. Morriss & Son - Dinwiddie, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM; Rev. Brian Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Grove Cemetery, 8301 Smith Grove Lane, N. Dinwiddie.
