CPO John Hartwell Bridgman, U.S.N. Retired, 83 years old passed away August 1, 2004. He served his country for 23 years in the Navy. He retired from Defense General Supply Center in 1982 as a Lt. on the Guard Force,was a Life member of Dinwiddie Moose Lodge and was a member of Fleet Reserve Association. He was born July 21, 1921 to Nellie Swartz and Charles S. Bridgman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Charles Bridgman, brothers Laurence Bridgman and Waverly Bridgman, sisters Rose Willis, Maxine Swain and a granddaughter Kristy Bridgman. He is survived by his wife Lillian Denson Bridgman, Five sons; John Bridgman Jr., William Bridgman and his wife Diane of Texas, Edward Bridgman and his wife Debbie of Prince George, Robert Bridgman and his wife Sandy of Va. Beach, Va. and Mitchell W. Mackiewicz and his wife Cindy of Disputanta, Va.; one daughter, Ruth M. Hatfield and her husband Danny of Spotsylvania; one brother, Charles Bridgman; several nieces and nephews, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Gail Thiessen officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 4th from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
