John Chabinak

John Hans Chabinak, 48, of Colonial Heights died on Saturday, June 9, 2007. He was the son of the late John and Ester Chabinak. John served the community of Petersburg in the Bureau of Police for over 26 years. Having obtained the grade of Inspector assigned to document services and fugitive recovery. John served in many positions with the Bureau which included, patrol officer, K-9 handler, detective, SWAT team member, patrol sergeant, investigator, and a sworn Deputy U.S. Marshall. John was an avid horseman who was active with the Virginia Cowboyâ??s Association and METRA. John was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his fiancé, Robin D. Poore; daughter, Sarah Chabinak of Oklahoma; sister, Susanna Doepfner and husband, Sigi of Germany as well as other family members and many friends. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm.
