John William Corrigan, AKA “Guido”, 73, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017. Born in New York, he was the son of the late Dr. James E. Corrigan and Ann Burns Corrigan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Corrigan; daughter, Bernadette Bailey and her husband, Bobby; son, Brian Corrigan; grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey, and Lyndsay; sister, Kathleen Besse; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S Wallace L. Lind. He was employed with the Petersburg Bureau of Police retiring as Captain after 28 years of service and graduated from the FBI National Academy. John was a founding member of the Crime Solvers Program in Petersburg. He was a member of the Lake Gaston Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed spending time at Lake Gaston but most of all he loved being with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, S. Chesterfield, VA 23834. Interment will be private.
