John T. Evans

COL John T. Evans, U.S. Army (Ret.), age 99, of Springfield Virginia, died on April 14, 2013. He earned a Bachelors Degree of science in civil engineering from the University of Alabama, and a Masters Degree in biological engineering from NIT. He was a World War II veteran and served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until 1971. He continued working in government positions as well as private enterprises. He is survived by his son, John C. Evans of Springfield, Virginia; daughter, Charlotte Evans Barksdale and husband, Charles R. Barksdale; granddaughters, Kathryn Elizabeth Barksdale, and Leigh Barksdale Fleshman and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Brendan and Emalee Ford, and Pierson Fleshman of Prince George; a loving friend, Mrs. Edith Clarke of Arlington, Virginia; longtime friend, Edward K. Ernstrom of Towaco, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn B. Evans and his grandson, Reade C. Barksdale. He was a great dad and a well loved man.
