John Kimbly Faison, 70, passed away on Saturday, April 6th 2024 surrounded by close loved ones. He was born in Richmond to Mary Britt Faison and George Samuel Faison on April 29, 1953. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother Scott C. Eperson. He is survived by his brothers George Faison jr, Ronald Faison and wife, Edy, his sister Rita Walters; numerous nieces and nephews; daughter Samantha Nicole Faison; his grandchildren Nixxon John, Nash Jalex, and Nolan Journey brought him so much joy. To them he was Papa John-the name that he took the most pride in.
John was a dedicated employee of Dominion Auto Group, where he was the Parts Director for over 40 years until he retired. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and always cheered on the Miami Dolphins. He was an avid lover of nature and spent most of his free time outdoors. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, soaking up the sun on the water at Lake Gaston, and took pleasure in the peace and the stillness of the mountains. John loved to watch the sunset while spending time with his friends who quickly became family. John was loved by anyone who met him. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind, honorable, "gentle giant/big ol' teddy bear".
John is survived by his daughter, Samantha Nicole Faison; grandchildren, Nixxon John, Nash Jalex, and Nolan Journey; siblings, George S. Faison, Jr., Ronald G. Faison, and Rita F. Waters; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends he called family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Petersburg, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
