John Newton Fry, Jr. 94, of McKenney, VA, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012. A lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, he was one of ten children born to John Newton and Grace Maize Fry. Mr. Fry was a U.S. Army veteran and the owner of McKenney Dry Cleaners for nearly 40 years. He was an avid sports fan but had a special love for baseball, waiting anxiously each year for the season to begin. He also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish for many years. He was a longtime member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Fry was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Davis Fry and all of his siblings. He loved his family very much and will be missed by his daughters, Margaret D. “Peggy” Fry of McKenney and Vicki F. Martin and husband, Stan of DeWitt, and a beloved granddaughter, Allison Martin of DeWitt. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with The Reverend Karen Workman officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery in McKenney. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O.
