John Hunter Glass Sr.

John Hunter Glass, Sr., 91, of DeWitt passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Born and raised on his family farm in DeWitt, he was the son of the late Publius Armstead and Hessie Adkins Glass, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Latimer Horton Glass. A United States Air Force veteran, Hunter faithfully served his country for 4 years, and then went on to be the postmaster of DeWitt Post Office for 33 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0149 in Dinwiddie for 67 years. Hunter was known for his love and dedication to his family, for telling stories of his life, and for his warm smile. Hunter is survived by his sons, John Hunter Glass, Jr. of Matoaca, and Clarkson Horton Glass of DeWitt; daughter, Sallie Latimer Glass of Richmond; grandson, Jason Hunter Glass (Meghan) of Mechanicsville; granddaughter, Michelle Glass of Mechanicsville; great grandchildren, Jacob and Alex Micheo and Lillian Glass. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803.
