John P. Guthrie, 92, of Petersburg died Friday July 2, 2004 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Archer and Bridgette Guthrie. He was a maintenance technician for the Petersburg School Maintenance department and retired after 27 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Nannie Louise Guthrie, one son John M. Guthrie and special friend Edith Williams, of Sutherland, two daughters, Nancy L. Horne and husband Floyd of Prince George, Brenda K. Williams and husband Dennis of Colonial Heights, seven grand children, Lynn Vaughan, Tom Miles, Kim Allen, Johnna Mitterer, Ashley Guthrie, Lisa Clarke, John Williams, twelve great-grandchildren, four nieces, two nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 PM Monday July 5, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, funeral services will be conducted 1:30 PM Tuesday July 6, 2004 in the chapel with the Rev. Louis Williams of Third Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Third Presbyterian Church of Petersburg.
