John Raleigh Harrison, Jr.

John Raleigh Harrison, Jr. "Johnboy", 67, of Ivor, VA, peacefully went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his children on Friday, February 10, 2023. He was born April 15, 1955, to John and Betty Harrison in Hopewell, VA. He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Harrison, Sr.; son, Justin Harris; and his granddaughter, Erica Ruis. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Ruis and husband, Johnnie; son, Jason Harrison; son, Cary Harrison and wife, Sara; son, Ryan Harris; son, Dillon Harris; and daughter, Lacey Martin; grandchildren, Katie Ruis, Rachel Harrison, Grace Harrison, Austin Harrison, and Daniel Ozmore; mother, Betty Harrison; sister, Rebecca Whitesides; sister, Pat Hayes and husband, Ben; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Johnboy started working when he was 18 at Hercules and retired after 37 years of service. All who knew Johnboy knew that early on he had a love for baseball, golf, and bowling. He was also an avid UVA sports fan and the Baltimore Orioles. He enjoyed classic cars, particularly 1973 Chevelle. Johnboy was always up for good times with friends, he loved beach music and dancing. The family will receive friends 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son Hopewell Chapel, 820 W. Broadway Ave, Hopewell, VA. A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the chapel. Interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park.
