John Thomas Hughes, Jr.

John Thomas "JT" Hughes, Jr., 59, of S. Prince George, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Born in Okinawa, Japan, he was the son of the late John Thomas Hughes, Sr. John was a United States Army veteran, having faithfully served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was currently employed by Advansix as a Chemical Operator. John is survived by his loving wife, Tammie Hughes; two sons, Jamie Hughes (Jessica) and Josh Hughes (Katie); three grandchildren, Harper, Josie, and Maisy; his mother, Sumiko Hughes; four siblings, Audrey Callen (Michael), Sandra Pace (James), Nancy Hughes, and Thomas "TJ" Hughes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. John served selflessly in two tours of duty in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq; he served his family just as dedicatedly as he did his country. John was a loving father and doted on his most loyal new friend, Layla, an intrepid French Bulldog. John will be missed. All services will be private. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
