John King

John Wesley King, 86 of Petersburg died Sunday, May 2, 2004. He was the widower of Ruth Thompson King. He was a native of Petersburg and the son of the late Joseph W. and Mary Anna Bracy King. In addition to his parents, and wife he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Dolores Bolton Phillips and son-in-law, James H. Hawks, III. He was the founder and owner of King’s BBQ. He is survived by his daughter, Joan King Hawks; granddaughter, Alicia Hawks Burdzel; brother, Robert King; a niece and several nephews. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, May 5th at the Mausoleum in Southlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm tonight at the J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, VA.
