John Wayne King, 41, of Pamela Drive, Disputanta, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004 in Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born in McKenney, VA, and had been a resident of the Disputanta area for the past 4 years. Mr. King was a member of the Lawn Boys Softball Team and a retired material handler for DuPont Teijin Films, Inc. He was preceded in death by his father, John Edward King. Mr. King is survived by his wife, Dana Cheely King of Disputanta, one son, John Wayne King, Jr. of Fredericksburg, two step-sons, Troy Lee Brinkley and James Preston Brinkley, both of Disputanta, his mother, Thelma Roberts King of McKenney, 8 grandchildren, one sister, Paulette King of McKenney, one brother Thomas King of Carson, two foster sisters, Shirley Roberts of McKenney, Joyce Ann Lucy of New York, NY and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, September 10, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Tucker of Goodwill Church of God in Christ, McKenney, officiating.
