John Wayne King, of Dinwiddie, VA., passed away, Saturday, December 23, 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Cleveland King, Jr. and Helen Louise Taylor King.
John retired from the City of Petersburg, he was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #882 and the American Legion post #2; he loved fishing, golfing, woodworking, guns and dancing.
He is survived by a special friend of 21 years, Wanda Bridgeman; daughters, Kimberly Elksnis and husband, Stephen of Charleston, WV., Tracy Lather and husband, Robert of Chesterfield, VA.; seven grandchildren, Lee Williams, Morgan Seay, Lexi Elksnis, Zachary Lather, Drew Lather, Nathan Lather and Savannah Whitney Maitland; three great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert “Sonny” Cleveland King, III and wife, Diane; sisters, Linda Lou Cothron, Sharon Gail Noland as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Wayne’s home,Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. to celebrate his life. Lunch will be provided by the family.
