John Craig Laity, of Petersburg, died on July 23, 20089 at the age of 90. Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 5, 1918, he was the son of the late John Vincent and Charlotte Cardell Laity. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a corporation accountant/controller for more than 40 years. He retired from Coats & Clark in 1985. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, Petersburg, for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his son, John Craig Laity, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Vofrei Laity; his daughters, Linda Laity Hite of Williamsburg, VA, and Pamela Laity-Schabacker and husband, Michael of Williams, AZ; his granddaughter, Kimberly Reubush of Dumfries, VA; his grandson, D. Chandler Reubush and wife, Emily and great-granddaughter, Cricket of Danville, VA; and a number of cousins in Cornwall, England.
