John Oliver

John Robert Oliver, 86, widower of Ernestine R. Oliver of Richmond, formerly of Hopewell, died, Thursday, May 11, 2006 in the Retreat Hospital. Mr. Oliver lived most of his life in Hopewell. He was the son of the late Leslie R. and Mary Cooney Oliver. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II, was Chief Appraiser for Pioneer Savings and Loan. Mr. Oliver was a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis club, and was a Mason, a member of Suden Shriners Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in New Bern, and a member of Merchants Hope Episcopal Church. Surviving are his brother, Richard M. Oliver of Richmond, one niece and three nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announce at a later date.
