John Augustine "Jack" Peterson, Jr.

John Augustine “Jack” Peterson, Jr. 92, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late John A. Peterson, Sr. and Bessie Edmunds Peterson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Watkins; and brothers, William Peterson and Weldon Peterson. Jack was a retired Special Agent with the ABC Commission with 32 years of service. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. He served as Deacon, Elder, Trustee and active member of the choir for 67 years. Jack enjoyed gardening, reading, and was an avid tennis player. He loved his family and his granddaughters dearly. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara F. Peterson; son, Jay Peterson and his wife, Stacey; daughter, Kimberley Peterson; granddaughters, Sydney Peterson and Katie Peterson; and brother, R.E. “Dick” Peterson (Ethel). The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Second Presbyterian Church Organ Repair Fund, 419 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, VA 23803.
