John Proper

John Haines Proper, 66, passed peacefully into Godâ??s hands Wednesday, April 4, 2012, after
a courageous battle with LIP lung disease. John was a 1964 graduate of Townville High School, and graduated from International Typographical Union in 1971. John was also a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Mauna Loa. John retired from 35 years in the newspaper industry, and was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; Warren W. and Virginia Haines Proper, brothers; Phillip and Frank Proper, all of Townville, PA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years; Judith A. Proper, of Chester, VA.; daughter, Jill Proper Kochheiser, and her husband, David of Chesterfield, VA.; Son, Jeff Proper, and his wife, Tara, of Spartanburg, SC.; grandsons, Trent Kochheiser and Warren Proper; granddaughters, Megan Kochheiser and Sara Proper; brother, Warren Proper and his wife, Pat of Guys Mills, PA.; sister, Virginia Filipowski, of Saegertown, PA.; brother, Arthur Proper and his wife, Carol Ann of Pascagoula, MS. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, April 9th, 2012 , at the Southside Church of the Nazarene, 6851 Court House Road, Chesterfield, VA.; and Townville United Methodist Church, 33729 N. Main Street, Townville, PA., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11:00 am.
