John Percival â??Jackâ? Rainey, 82, of Sutherland, passed away Wednesday, June 01, 2011. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Moyland Gibson Rainey, Sr. and Fannie Orton Rainey. Jack proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was called to active duty in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired supervisor with the Federal Department of Corrections. He was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights and currently an active member of Ocran United Methodist Church in Sutherland. Jack held membership in the Blandford Lodge No. 3 A.F. & A.M., Grand Bethel #29 where he was a Bethel Guardian, and American Legion Post 284. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Rainey. He is survived by his wife, Jane Burts Rainey; son, John P. Rainey, Jr. and wife, Kelly of Colonial Heights, daughters, Janice Leigh Blair and husband, Kevin, of Orwigsburg, PA, Joanne Guarino and husband, Joseph, of Greensboro, NC and Jennifer Louise Picardat and husband, Randy of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, John P. Rainey III and wife, Erica-Leigh Rainey, Randy Picardat, Ana Rainey, Michael Guarino, David Guarino, Tori Picardat, Stuart Blair, Matthew Blair and great grandchild, Ella Rainey; brother, Epes Rainey and wife, Mary Frances of Petersburg; sister, Virginia Cromwell and husband, Robert of Springfield, VA; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5th, at Ocran United Methodist Church with The Reverend Larry House officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. The Rainey family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J. T.
