John Douglas Renzel, “Handsome John,” of Chester, Virginia, died on March 10th 2017. John loved making people laugh, and did so until the end. John was born on April 28, 1943, to Rita and Ralph Renzel. John is survived by his devoted sister, Mary Beth (Renzel) Synold, brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Fred Synold; nieces Darci (Theurer) Cianci and husband, Bob Cianci, Molly (Theurer) Jackson and husband, Scott Jackson and Katey (Theurer) Platts and husband, Jeremy Platts, thirteen great-nieces and nephews, all of New Jersey and Wisconsin, and the most amazing friends a man could ask for. His sister, Jean Renzel, and parents preceded him in death.
John grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Marquette University High School and Bellarmine University. John worked for Glenmore Distilleries and was a loyal employee of Anheuser Busch, working many years as a national account representative for the company. John lived life to the fullest and enjoyed his boats, cars, and gadgets. He was an excellent golfer, who dressed for the game as well as he played. He was very lucky to have an exceptional circle of friends. John was a member of Country Club of Petersburg. He was a dedicated supporter of Thomas Dale High School’s athletic teams and loved the Redskins. John was a true original who will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Please join us to celebrate the great life of John Renzel on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m at Country Club of Petersburg, 1250 Flank Road, Petersburg, Va. The celebration will be followed by a round of golf in John’s honor. The burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
