John Irving Romaine, 80, of S. Prince George, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Rita Senecal Romaine; and sisters, Joanne Andrews and Mary Lou Richards. John was an avid golfer and loved reading, writing and spending time outdoors. He was a speaker and teacher, as well as a minister for 50 years. He taught for the Department of Defense and DeCA at Ft. Lee for 20 years and served as Chaplain for Carson Fire Department in Prince George for four years. He is survived by his wife, Constance E. Romaine; seven children, Julie A. VanHouten (Rich), John M. Romaine (Jackie), Mary I. Crowder (John), Anne M. Eder, David F. Romaine, Paul V. Romaine and Alexina R. Portyrata (Ben); five siblings, Grace Hedlund, Victor Romaine, Michael Romaine, Bryan Romaine and Lori Mooney; and a legacy of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
