John Edward Sars, 65, of Prince George, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. John was born February 16, 1946 in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Sars and Helen Vojtko-Sars; beloved grandparents, John and Mary Vojtko; and a sister, Francis Hull. Mr. Sars was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia; and was previously a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville, Tennessee. John worked for Honeywell Corporation of Chesterfield, Virginia and Sparta, Tennessee for thirty-eight years. He is survived by his loving wife, Martie Ann Sars; daughters, Christina Marie Morales and her husband Wayne of Colonial Heights, Vicki Lynn Robinson and her husband BJ of Chester; son, John E. Sars Jr. and his wife Michelle of Prince George; and sister, Karen Marie Koch of Hopewell; grandchildren, Taylor Wade Merica, William Austin Robinson, Anthony James Morales, Joshua Aaron Morales, and Abbie Michelle Sars. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Schmied at 9300 Community Lane, Petersburg, Virginia 23805; followed by interment at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrenâ??s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
