John Edward Spiers

John Edward Spiers, 93, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late John O’Brien Spiers and Ruth C. Spiers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Spiers; two brothers, Coleman Spiers and Charles Spiers; and three sisters, Paxina Wynne, Dorothy Chappell, and Elizabeth Parrish. John is survived by his sister, MaryAnn Parker and her husband, William Edward; brother, Grant Spiers; sister-in-law, Louise Spiers; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
