John Carl Stancil

John Carl Stancil, 69 of Hopewell, VA passed away on Wednesday February 3,2021. He is preceded in death by his parents John Elder Stancil and Vera Henson Stancil, his sister, Jeannie Stancil White, and his sister-in-law Debi Stancil. John is a graduate of Hopewell High School and a Military Veteran serving in the U.S Navy. John was part of the Fire and Rescue Brigade at Honeywell where he later retired from. He was a lifetime member of the Hopewell Emergency crew, one of the founding members of the Wildlife Habitat Team at Allied, A member of the American Legion, as well as a member and officer of the Goldwing Road Riders Association. John enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, fly-tying, and building and repairing fishing rods. John loved spending time with his family and friends especially watching his three grandsons playing sports. He was a devoted husband, dad, papa, and friend to everyone. He never met a stranger and he loved helping others. John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Wanda; two sons, Paul (Kristin) and David (Niki); six grandchildren, Autumn, Brandon, Aaliyah, Caleb, Caden, and Colby; one brother Robbie M. Stancil; one sister, Susan Osborne (Dave); two sisters-in-law and Cindy N. Moore and Susan N. Wagner (Ricky); an aunt and uncle Romelle and Worth Eure, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and least we do not forget his faithful and furry companion Max. There will be a service held on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
