John William Gay, 82, of Church Road, VA, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Dosher Nursing Center in Southport, NC.. Born in Wake Forest, NC, he was the son of the late Frank H. and Mary Bailey Gay. Mr. Gay was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Annie Lee Pearson Gay. He is survived by his sons, Jerry L. Gay and wife, Linda of Clayton, NC and John R. Gay and wife, Melva of Southport, NC; granddaughters, Tonya and husband, William Humphrey of Prince George, and Sherry & husband Roger Absher of Fredericksburg; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Kayleigh, Brandon and Zachary. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, April 3 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 4 PM Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Church Road.
