John Watts

John Stephen Watts, 55, of Chester, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2004 after a fierce battle against cancer. He was born on February 8, 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Jane Carter Watts and his father-in-law, Phillip H. Bullard, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Bullard Watts; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa B. and James Chafin; his grandson, Zackery Earl Chafin, his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Mary Watts; two sisters, Janie W. Howell and Leslie W. Goins; his mother-in-law, Cecelia Bullard; his brother-in-law, Phillip “Buddy” Bullard, Jr. and his wife, Cindi; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was employed by Goldschmidt Chemical in Hopewell at the time of his death. A service of death and resurrection will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of John’s dog, Theodore, to the SPCA, 1906 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
