Butler, Johnnie Louise, 90 of Colonial Heights, died on Friday, November 23, 2019. Born in Grenada, Mississippi on September 12, 1928, to Charlie and Lottie Mae Crowe. She moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked as a personnel specialist for the Federal Government. There she met her future husband, Johnnie E. Butler. Johnnie L. and Johnnie E. were married in 1947. During the 1970’s she was a key organizer in the creation of the Chapter for Children with Learning Disabilities for Prince William County. During the 1970’s and 1980’s Johnnie Louise was a very active and proud member of the Woodbridge Virginia Lioness Club. She has a special passion for decoration the family home during each Christmas season. Her artistic and creative talents were admired by many in the community. As gifts she would create specialty designed Easter baskets each spring. After living in Woodbridge Virginia for 38 years Johnnie and Johnnie retired to Port Orange, Florida in 1994. They returned to Virginia in 2014. She is survived by her husband of 71 years Johnnie E. Butler, and their five children, Trisha Lewandowski (Gary), Alison Taylor, Johnnie, III (Julie), Elizabeth and Jennifer, and five grandchildren, John, Brett, Susan, Troy and Natalie. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She’s at peace now in God’s Kingdom in Heaven. The family will be forever grateful to Hospice of Virginia and two special caregivers who will always be remembered in our hearts. A memorial celebration of her life will be held, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home of Chester. A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery.
