Johnny Droddy, Jr, 85, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Born on July 25, 1930 in Pitkin, LA, he was the son of the late Johnny Droddy, Sr. and Ivy Doyle Droddy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae Droddy; daughter, Marlene Carter; brothers, Buddy Droddy and Clifton Droddy; and sisters, Cleo Day and Doris Andrews. Johnny was a Veteran of the U.S. Army who proudly served in WWII. He was employed with Burton P. Short Paving Contractors and Construction retiring after many years of service. He was a family man and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. His family will cherish his memories. Johnny is survived by three sons, Robert Droddy, Larry Droddy and wife, Ann, and Terry Droddy; three daughters, Shelia Crump and husband, Kurt, Carolyn Abernathy and husband, Steve, and Kathy Rice; brother, Darrell Durelwood and wife, Lucy; two sisters, Loueen Minson and husband, George, and Barbara Ann Willis; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Christine Campbell and Estelle Wilkinson. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
