Jose Fajardo Colina Jr.

Jose Fajardo Colina Jr., MD, 76, of Chester VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Jose was a practicing physician for 47 years having retired in 2009. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1961. He completed his training at Portsmouth General Hospital with a specialty in family practice. Jose's career in medicine spanned five decades and brought him from the rigors of urban emergency room medicine to the slower pace of small town family practice. He completed his medical life as a civilian physician at Fort Lee. Jose is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alma "Aimee" Sapitula Colina; son, Dr. Mervyn Colina and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Colina; son, Dr. Joey Colina and daughter-in-law, Rowena Colina; son, Dr. Kevin Colina and daughter-in-law, Grace Colina; grandchildren, Tiberius James Colina and Dorian Xavier Colina. A wake service will be held from 6:00 -9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home at 3050 West Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Church of the Sacred Heart at 9300 Community Lane, Petersburg, VA 23805.
