Josefine "Josie" Johnson

Josefine (Josie) Poltzner Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020. A resident of Hopewell for nearly 45 years, she was the daughter of Johann and Theresia Poltzner of Manheim, Germany. Josie was an Army wife, devoted to her husband Billy Watts Johnson for 49 years. She enjoyed shopping, visiting with friends, and was known to make a mean marble cake. Josie loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. James Catholic Church in Hopewell, as well as a member of the German Ladies Club of Colonial Heights. Josie is survived by her son; Billy Ray Johnson and his wife Sally, her grandson Jeffrey Ray Johnson and his wife Shelly, her granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Johnson, her two grandchildren, Pearson Ray Johnson and Audrey Lane Johnson; three sister-in-laws, Kathy Dereski and her husband Frank, Maxine March and Mary Louis Blevins and brother-in-law Ralph Johnson as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends. Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Watts Johnson, her daughter Karen Sue Johnson and her parents. A graveside service will be conducted at Bermuda Memorial Park on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. James Catholic Church of Hopewell, 510 W.
