Joseph Marshall Manion, age 76, of Chester, VA, died suddenly on Friday, February 1, 2008, in Richmond, VA. His beloved wife of 52 years, Annelle â??Annâ? Boyd Manion, age 71, died February 5, 2008, in Petersburg, VA, after a long battle with cancer. The Manions were long time residents of Chester, VA. Joe, the son of the late Marshall J. and Esther Gooden Manion was born in New York, NY. He was a 1967 graduate of Georgia Tech and was currently employed by the Commonwealth of Virginia with the National Guard. Joe was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, the American Institute of Public Accountants and the Virginia society of Public Accountants. Ann, the daughter of the late Buford L. And Opal Houseworth Boyd was born in Whitesburg, GA. She attended Massey Business College in Atlanta, GA and for many years was employed as a dental assistant at various private practices, Ft. Lee, and McGuire Veterans Medical Center. She was also the Proprietor of the Merle Norman Cosmetics Shop in Colonial Heights, VA. The Manions were preceded in death by an infant son. They are survived by a son Edward J. Manion and his wife Joyce of Henrico; his brother, Charles E. Manion and his wife Terry of Salisbury, MD; his sisters Eileen E. Fulton of Reston, VA and Anne M. Manion of Milwaukee, WI; her brother, Lawson Boyd and his wife Nadine of Hoganville, GA; her sisters, Lois Carlon Rooks of Carrollton, GA, and Otha Gladfelter of Newnan, GA and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Chesterfield on Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Manion will follow there on Friday, February 8, at 2 p.m., with interment in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Condolences to the family may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
