Joseph Brown Dyer, Jr, 69, of N. Dinwiddie, VA went home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on January 5, 2016 after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was the son of the late Joseph B. Dyer, Sr. and Elizabeth T. Dyer. He was the brother of Janeth Martin who preceded him and Dorothy Bowers and her husband, Jim, of MO. Joe was born in Cumberland, MD, but moved to Winchester, VA at an early age and considered himself a “Virginia country boy”. Joe is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Martha Dyer; three sons, Joseph B. Dyer, III. (Janess) of VA, Daniel J. Dyer (Anna) of MD, and Scott A. Dyer of NV; daughter, Carrie Forbes and her husband, Eric, of AZ; ten grandchildren, Joey, Briana and fiancé, Tyquin, Dominic, Theresita, Orion, Alayna, Emily, Mitchell, Stephen, and Hayley; one great-grandson, Xavier; three nieces, Debbie Thomas (Roger), Bonnie Crosen (Max), and Theresa Dawson (Randy); four nephews, Mike Kline (Patty), Billy Ray Dotson, Danny Dotson, and Ken Dotson (Elizabeth). Three words that summed up Joe’s life were generous, decent, and faithful. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on January 23, 2016 at First Assembly of God, 25213 Ferndale Rd, Petersburg, VA 23803. Interment will be private at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to Gentiva Hospice, 595 Old Wagner Rd.
