Ginther, Joseph Francis, 90 peacefully passed away at home on January 13, 2016.
Joseph F. "Joe" Ginther was born in 1925 on a farm near Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. He was involved in farm work until he was 21.
He attended a rural one grade school and was graduated from the University of Wisconsin at
Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While he was still in grade school his father was killed in an accident. His mother's hard work and ability to keep her family together during those hard times impressed him and affected his own work ethic and life philosophy.
After college he was a training specialist at Allis Chambers Manufacturing Corporation, and training Director and Personnel Officer at a large Milwaukee Bank. He also served as an ad hoc instructor in Business Written Communications for the University of Wisconsin Management Institute and as an
instructor in Creative Thinking and Problem Solving for the University of Wisconsin Extension Division.
Later he went into business for himself and became a licensed instructor and District Manager for the Dale Carnegie Courses in southern Wisconsin. He retired in 1990.
Mr. Ginther moved to White Lake near Weyauwega WI and lived for 23 years before he and his wife moved to Chester Virginia in 2012 to live with their daughter.
He has written numerous articles as a freelance author and published his first book "Country Branded" based on his life growing up in rural Wisconsin in 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Ginther and his five children; Donna (Ginther) Poth and husband, Tom of Milledgeville, GA., Sabra (Ginther) Keller and husband, Sam of Chester, VA., James Ginther and his wife, Cheryl of Oregon, WI., Christine (Ginther) Nordberg and husband, William of Almond, WI., Robert Ginther and his wife, Amy of Rocks Springs, WI; 17 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, January 23, 2016 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 4400 Beulah Road, Richmond, VA 23234 where a funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am.
