Joseph Matthew "Dough Boy" Holland, 45, of Chesterfield County, VA, passed away on August 1, 2023. He was the son of Susan Blaha Evans (Randy) and the late Robert Kevin Holland. He was a 1996 graduate of Hopewell High School and briefly attended classes at John Tyler Community College after graduation. Joe was baptized at Woodlawn Baptist Church as a teen where he was very active in the youth groups and activities within the church, and continued to attend occasionally as an adult, most times with his grandmother.
Joe was a talented artist. Although he could sketch almost anything, he chose cartoons and caricatures as his subjects. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking. He was also a huge NASCAR fan and an unwavering fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Joe was a "people person", he loved making people laugh with him and, sometimes even at him. If you were fortunate enough to call him your friend, you had a lifelong friendship. More than anything, Joe loved his family. He took the most joy in spending time with his children who he considered his "greatest accomplishment". He was so proud of them, and they adored him. To them, their dad was always "the funniest man in the room".
Joe is also survived by his daughter, Keilei Joe Holland, of Fredericksburg, VA; his son, Chesdyn Jack Holland, of Buxton, NC; his sister, Sunny Holland Laxton, of Dinwiddie, VA; and his grandmother, Rae Price Blaha, of Hopewell; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10 AM, on August 12, 2023, with the service to be conducted at 11 AM, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens where Joe will be laid to rest beside his dad.
