Joseph R. Metosh, 85, of Petersburg, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center., after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the the late Cyril Daniel and Lois Jones Metosh. He was preceded in death by
two brothers, Col. Patrick Metosh and Jean A. Metosh; three sisters, Gloria M. Harris, Mary M. Parker and Paula M. DeMary; one stepson, David A. Swan.
Mr. Metosh was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Petersburg. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during World War II. He flew 14 missions over Europe, he retired after 30 years from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, he enjoyed fishing and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Marie L. Swan Metosh; one sister, Patricia M. Patram and husband, Edward; one brother, Daniel Metosh and wife, Dorit; a devoted nephew, Larry Parker; a special sister-in-law, Barbara Metosh; nieces, Rebecca Owen, Daphne Vantiem, Cathy Hopkins, Caroline M. Dickey, Mary Jackson, Bridgette Woodmancey and Julia Maitland; other nephews, Jerry Parker, Jeffrey Metosh, Lindsey, Dennis, Timothy, Jody and Daniel Patram; stepdaughters, Ann P. Richardson and husband, Raymond, Maria A. Venzen and Rose M. Roberts, and their children, Yvette, Yvonne, Jeanette and Michael, Vicky, Valerie, Conroy and Oswain, Michael and Kristen; special friends, Barbara Trivelli, Dan Duhan and Sister Lucille Baker. A Mass of Resurrection will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father J. Biber officiating, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in St. Josephâ??s Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
