Joseph Reece

Joseph Montgomery Reece, 99 of Petersburg died April 25, 2006. Born August 13, 1906 in Elkin, NC., he was the son of the late Alberta Carson Reece and Dr. James Montgomery Reece. He married Ann Brown Nash on May 6, 1937, she passed in 1977, married Virginia Hamilton Evans on January 22, 1984. He was a graduate of University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. His entire working career was with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. which he retired in 1972. He was a member of St. Markâ??s United Methodist Church, Petersburg Country Club, Rotary Club, served on several boards in Petersburg Hospital. Surviving is his wife, Virginia Hamilton Evans; two stepsons, Alexander Hamilton Evans of Florida and Roy T. Evans of Richmond; niece, Mrs. Howard Longfellow of Columbus, OH; nephew, Dr. Richard Glenn of Winston-Salem, NC. Graveside services will be conducted 4:00 pm Thursday, April 27, 2006 in Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston Salem, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of donorâ??s choice. Family expresses special appreciation to Mrs. Vickie Shull, Joeâ??s primary caregiver and to Dr. James Mason.
