Joseph Smith

Joseph C. Smith, 84, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2011 at his residence in Chester, VA. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Smith, Sr., brother, William F. Smith, Jr. and sister, Marguerite Hardison. He was a proud veteran and medic of the United States Army and attended Bowling Green Business University in the state of Kentucky. Mr. Smith was employed with Allied Chemical (Honeywell) for 39 years and retired as Plant Controller of the Hopewell, VA. location. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth, son, Charles C. Smith (wife Julia), daughter, Linda J. Moring (husband Ray), grandson, Charles â??Bryanâ? Smith (wife Jaime), and granddaughter, Brittany Jo Moring. Also, a brother Harold P. Smith (wife Georgiana), and sister Daisy L. Smith all of Bowling Green, KY., a niece and host of nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA. 23831. Interment will be private.
