Joseph Thompson, Jr.

Joseph Thompson, Jr., 89, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Born in South Hill, VA, he was the son of the late Joseph Thompson, Sr. and Willy Reese Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Inez Thompson; children, Lois Ebright (Kenny), Jimmy Thompson (Lisa), Lewis Thompson (Belinda), David Thompson and Barbara Wells (Ethan); 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran and proudly served in the Korean War. He was employed with Brenco retiring after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. Joseph loved to fish, garden and repair lawn mowers. He was a devoted husband, loving Dad, and friend to all. He will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Wayne Williams at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Oaklawn Baptist Church, 7925 Hickory Rd., S. Chesterfield, VA.
