Celebrating the Loving Memory of
Josephine T. Brady: July 30, 1936 – November 27, 2021
Josephine T. Brady was called to her eternal resting place on November 27, 2021 in Richmond, Virginia.
Josephine, or as she was affectionately called Phine, was born on July 30, 1936, along with her twin brother Joseph. She was the daughter of Alonzo and Melvie Turner. In her early years, she was very athletic. She belonged to Mt. Zion Baptist Church and sang in the choir. After graduating from East High School, she went to Nursing School and became a License Practical Nurse.
She married her husband, Herbert Brady, and they were married for 48 years until his passing in 2004. Their union produced three children: AnJell, Jholli and a stillborn son named Stacey.
Josephine traveled with her husband throughout his 32-year military career. While traveling, she pursued her education and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Francisco State University. She also wrote a book for her thesis titled Relaxation in Adult Education. She worked for the Department of Defense for 27 years, and a few of the positions she held were Industrial Hygiene Technician, Supplemental Program and Services Director, CDS Coordinator, Education Specialist and Employment Readiness Program Manager.
Some of the places Josephine worked during her 27 years of Federal Service include Fort Lewis, Washington; The Presidion of San Francisco; Camp Zama, Japan; Denver, Colorado; The West Point Military Academy, New York; Landstuhl, Germany; Fort Gordon, Georgia; Bayonne, New Jersey; and Fort Lee, Virginia.
Josephine loved and cared for all her family and friends and will truly be missed.
Josephine leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, AnJell (Edward) of New Jersey and Jholli Brady of Chester Virginia; her grandchildren, Shareen and Edward II, of New Jersey; her sister, Joy Lee Perry; brothers-in-law, Samuel (Delois) and Matthew (Cookie) all of Youngstown, Ohio.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as family and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; son, Stacey; her granddaughter, Brandii; her parents, Melvie and Alonzo Sr.; her brothers, Alonzo Jr., Edward, and her twin brother, Joseph; her sisters, Honey and Betty; and her loving niece, Diane, and nephew, James.
