Josephine Cliborne Matthews, 64, of Prince George, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward “Buck” and Margaret Cliborne; and her grandson, Cayden Coalson. Josephine was raised in Dinwiddie County before moving to Prince George. Josephine worked for the Prince George County Public Schools Systems for 21 years in the cafeteria at the High School where she was given the name of “JoMama” from the children. She also worked with special needs children as a bus aide. Josephine loved her family and had a genuine giving and caring heart. She was a loving wife, mother, and “Nannie” to her grandkids and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Dudley Matthews; daughters, Amanda Matthews (Chris Nesbitt), Candy Sirles, Amber Lomax; grandchildren, Sandra Grant, Joseph Cooper, Savannah Coalson, Paisley Nesbitt; sisters, Sandra Reese, Deborah Pearson, Cindy Howcroft; a special niece, Jeanie Glass; along with several nieces, nephews, in-laws, her extended school and work family; and other extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home with a gathering to follow until 5pm.
