It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share with you the passing of our sweet angel, Joshua Daniel at the young age of 31. Joshua David Daniel, 31, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away November 2, 2021. Joshua was born on March 12, 1990 in Hopewell, VA to David Daniel and Laurie Ledford. The good Lord called him home Tuesday morning after decades of slowly declining and suffering from Muscular Dystrophy with the most positive attitude imaginably possible, surpassing the doctor’s life expectancy by 18 years. He was always smiling, always happy to see his family and dog, Digger. He never complained.
He is survived by both parents; sisters, Cathlyn and Taylor McCraw; grandparents, Joanne Anderson; Reverend Linwood Daniel and Barbara Daniel; uncles, Chuck Wright, Mike Daniel and Jeff Daniel, as well as his cousins; Sam Daniel, Jessica Daniel and Lauren Daniel. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Carl Anderson.
Josh had an intense gift for technology, loved the Braves, and would have really enjoyed seeing them win the World Series. He also loved Virginia Cavaliers Basketball, and Nascar Racing. Elliot Sadler was his favorite. I will never forget how much Josh enjoyed our summer trips to the Outer Banks. His face lit up like a Christmas Tree when it was time to get in the pool with his father and extended family. He was always at peace in the water, even as his muscle strength continued to fade. He enjoyed his adventures going to NASCAR tracks with Nanny and Pa. He also had wonderful fishing trips with his Pa, and Josh always caught the biggest fish, but it always got away.
We were all so proud when he completed and graduated high school despite his challenges and being wheelchair bound, and we will always wish he had the other normal lifetime opportunities that were granted to his surviving siblings and cousins.
Thank you for your time, and God bless. May we never take our health and normal lives for granted. Josh, I promise you I will take care of your dad and make sure he finds peace and happiness. I promise you we will all do our best to make you proud every single day. May you forevermore enjoy your heavenly restored body while you’re dancing amongst the Kings. We love you, so much, and cannot wait to see you again one day.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at
