Joy Smith Fenderson

Joy Smith Fenderson, 47, of Colonial Heights, died on Thursday December 17, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dudley and Belle Walker Smith. Joy was employed by the Hopewell School Systems for 15 years, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Eagles #882. She enjoyed camping, the beach, and spending time with her family and friends and especially her dogs over many “snow Party’s”. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Fenderson; her daughter, Katherine J. Fenderson; grandson, Vance Lewis; sister, Joanne Rutledge and her husband, Bill; and a brother, James Smith and his wife, Margie ; a special friend, Beth Leigh; brother in law, David Fenderson; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday December 21, 2015 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at Highland United Methodist Church 125 East Westover Avenue Colonial Heights VA 23834, with interment to follow in Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell. In Lieu memorial contributions can be made to your local SunTrust Bank for the Brainstorm 20/20 Foundation which was founded in December 2015 in Honor of Joy Fenderson.
