Joyce Darlene Johnson

Joyce Darlene Johnson, 53, of Spring Grove, VA, died Friday, September 22, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Wilson, and three sisters, Edna Wilson, Diane Weisheim, and Roberta “Bert” Summamal. Joyce worked in civil service at Fort Lee for over 20 years and was well thought of by her co-workers. She was loved by all and can best be described as being sassy and determined. She had a big heart and always wanted to help others, regardless of how she was feeling. Joyce is survived by her husband of 24 years, Tim Johnson; sons, John Jeter Heard (Patricia), Timothy Mark Johnson, and Jeffrey Mancel Johnson, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bobby” Wilson (Kim); sister, Christine Brieling (George); and her mother, Frances Wilson. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
