Joyce Evelyn Ryder

Joyce Evelyn Ryder, 80, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Clinton and Fannie Sue Ellis Vaughan. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Wilford Joseph Green, Sr. Mrs. Ryder worked at Petersburg General Hospital and Hiram Davis Medical Center for over 20 years, retiring as a unit secretary. A member of Ocran United Methodist Church, she enjoyed cooking, traveling, hosting and attending family events, and was especially fond of her two dogs, Shadow and Meme. She is survived by her husband, Larry W. Ryder; children, Joyce Green Dayvault and husband, David, Wilford Joseph Green, Jr. and wife, Clestelle, and Timothy A. Green and wife, Patricia; grandchildren, Matthew Dayvault, Shelby Tinsley and husband, Charlie, Beth Green, Emily Green, Mollie Green, Michelle Reierson and husband, Matt, Joshua Green and Arlie DeMeo; great-granddaughter, Layla Reierson, and a sister, Josephine Vaughan Joyner. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Ocran United Methodist Church with The Reverend Larry House officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
