Joyce Simmons

Thelma â??Joyceâ? Wray Simmons, 81, of Dinwiddie, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Wallace; stepfather, Goode Wallace; father, Aubrey Wray; husband of over 50 years, Claude Simmons; son, Richard â??Rickyâ? Simmons; brother, William â??Billyâ? Wallace; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Simmons. Joyce is survived by her two sons, Donald Simmons and Ray Simmons and his wife, Debbie; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Wade and her husband, Jack of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church of Dinwiddie, the Dinwiddie Moose Lodge and the VFW in Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 22, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
