Floyd Albert Archer, Jr., 63, of Petersburg, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005 in Southside Regional Medical Center. Mr. Archer was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was a retired U.S. Army SFC, having served in the 82nd Airborne and completed a thirteen month tour of duty in the Vietnam conflict, where he earned the Bronze Star, among numerous other decorations. Following his retirement, he served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Kenner Army Health Clinic and Colonial Heights Healthcare Center. Mr. Archer is survived by his wife, Gabriele Spoetzl Archer of Petersburg, two daughters, Alice A. Owens and her husband Thomas of Prince George, Janice A. Lukomski and her husband John of Colonial Heights, two grandchildren, Alexandra Owens of Prince George and John Lukomski of Colonial Heights. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 28, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with Father William Cary, U.S. Army Chaplain, officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.
