Lawrence A. Azlin, Jr. 87, died November 1, 2004. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Dorothy C. Azlin; a son, Lawrence A. Alzin, III, of El Cerrito, CA., a daughter, Debra A. Miller, and a son-in-law, Thomas O. Miller of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Stephanie L. Miller of Alexandria; and Lt. (j.g.) Christopher Lawrence Miller of Aberdeen, MD. Mr. Azlin was a graduate of Petersburg High School and attended Purdue University and VPI prior to enlisting in the Army immediately after Pearl Harbor. He fought with 42nd Division in Europe during World War II where he earned two battle stars. Mr. Azlin was a retired Executive Vice-President of First Federal Savings Bank of Virginia. He was Past President of the Petersburg Lions Club and a 59 year member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association. He was also a member of Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church in Petersburg, having served in many areas of church work over a period of 49 years, including teaching to serving as Lay Leader. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
